AROMAS & FLAVORS
Our 2021 Grüner Veltliner shines throughout with complex minerality and notes of kiwi fruit and white peach. Aromatics of bright lemon-lime zest fill the glass. This wine is light and refreshing, making it a perfect complement for herbaceous meals, such as English pea shoot or yellow beat salad.
VINEYARDS & WINEMAKING
As part of the original Spanish Land Grant, the Rancho Santa Rosa Vineyard is one of Santa Barbara’s most historic properties. This beautiful south-facing hillside climbs from 500 to 1,000 feet above sea level. The grapes were hand harvested in the cool, early morning hours. After whole cluster pressing, the juice was cold-settled for 24 hours and then racked to stainless steel tanks for primary fermentation with native yeast. It was fermented to dryness and aged sur lie for 2 months.
VINTAGE
The 2021 vintage was a cooler growing season with the latest harvest we’ve had in many years. We had some concerns, but we worked as a team to beat all obstacles thrown our way. The moderate weather in Santa Barbara County provided good fruit quality and balanced acid levels. Harvest was completed on October 23.
